Dear Fellow Mothers and Sisters,

Wanna join me on a quest?  I don’t know about you, but being at home with kids this year hit me hard and at the end of the day there was no time left for me.

Early this year, I read the book, French Women Don’t Get Fat, written by Mireille Guiliano.  (Bear with me here, because my quest is not only to lose those 10 quarantine/stuff-your-face-with-chocolate/drink-all-the-wine pounds….plus the extra 20 pounds of pre-COVID fluff that was already there.)

As I read, I found myself continuously fascinated, intrigued and inspired at the peak Mireille gives into how French Women approach not just food, but life (excuse me, chocolate, wine and cheese every day?  Yes please!!!!) Which got me thinking.  There are so many different cultures of women out there, and I am so curious, what are their STEPS for Grace?  Is there a common thread among the different nationalities?  With America being the melting pot that it is, I wonder, if someone were to write a book about American women and generalize how they are, could they?

For instance, my exaggerated hand gestures I have when I talk, and my love of all things food were inherited from my Sicilian side.  Could my Mother’s love of art and beauty have trickled down through our French foremothers?  In what way have the women of the past shaped the women of today, as it relates to grace?  What secrets do I carry within my own DNA?  What secrets lie hidden in yours?

I am interested about this not just for my family roots, but for the many different cultures of women around the globe.  I am inquisitive about the women who make up the red, white and blue, and what happens if we embrace and celebrate and replicate the beauty of these cultures, on purpose?

Which leads me to my super exciting quest.  To learn about a different culture of women each month, and document my thoughts.

Each week of the month, I will focus on one different aspect of the culture I am studying.  The categories are as follows:

  • Food/Exercise
  • Fashion/Skincare
  • Romance/Relationships
  • Motherhood

So easy. If you haven’t already, click the like button for my facebook page, @Stepsforgrace, and sign up here www.stepsforgrace.com for my newsletter, which will just let you know when there are new blog posts up.  No spamming, just twice a week posts.

Each month, I will introduce you to the Country of Focus, and provide you with my reading list in case you really want to dig deep with me.

The first month, we will dive straight into France with the book French Women Don’t Get Fat.

À bientôt! (see you soon ; )
